Changing The Way We Educate, Communicate and Conduct Business
The trend in computing and communications is clear - conferencing, collaboration, social networking and eLearning technologies are the next wave. These technologies are enabling new global relationships and new models for learning that are dramatically changing the way we educate, communicate and conduct business in the Global Economy. eLearning and collaboration technologies can save money, enable 21st Century Schools, support economic development, train a 21st century workforce, and enable Arizona businesses to be internationally competitive with new tools for global business development, customer relations, collaboration and communication. Organizations are adopting eLearning and collaboration technologies for employees, customers, investors and more.
For example, these technologies will:
enable virtual meetings with clients, boards, associations and "industry clusters" that will reduce travel, save time and money and increase meeting participation
enhance communication, decision making, teamwork and strategic partnerships
expedite product development, sales and customer support
enable online learning, new K-18 learning opportunities, school-to-work relationships and workforce development programs
support telemedicine, telecommuting, Computer Aided Design and more
a
eLearning is the use of digital media such as the Internet, CDs, Cable TV and streaming media to facilitate education, training, lifelong learning, collaboration and online meetings. eLearning includes Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, simulations, games, audio, video and web conferencing, and more.
eLearning is transforming education from K-12 to lifelong learning. Traditional classroom learning is no longer engaging students in the digital age. Schools, colleges and universities will have to change to keep the attention of students. There is clear evidence that eLearning can: transform education, increase student academic performance; provide individualized curriculum and self paced learning, enhance the quality of the learning process, increase student interest and reduce dropout rates, provide students with essential skills to further their education and to participate in society and the workplace of the 21st century. The conference will develop the vision, policies and strategies to support K-12 schools, colleges and universities to effectively adopt technology and eLearning in the classroom that will transform education and facilitate teaching and learning.
eLearning is also becoming a cost effective standard for corporate training, professional development, and lifelong learning. eLearning and collaboration technologies also provide new business development and customer relations tools for sales and marketing presentations, customer and investor relations, technical support and product training, collaboration, project management, and online meetings. The conference will develop the vision, policies and strategies to promote and support the adoption of eLearning and collaboration technologies in business, government and nonprofit organizations for workforce development, business development, collaboration and online meetings.
a
Arizona, home to many of the world's leading eLearning companies, is a leader in the eLearning industry. eLearning contributes over $2 billion annually to the state's economy. Arizona companies develop and provide a broad spectrum of technologies and services from content and learning management systems to online education and training programs, simulations, web casting, web conferencing, consulting, eLearning research, and more. The Summit will develop vision, policies and strategies to support Arizona eLearning enterprises in creating advanced eLearning technologies and services and increasing their share of revenues in the growing global eLearning market.
a
Research in the development of new eLearning technologies or learning styles is critical to the delivery of effective eLearning initiatives. The Summit will solicit research interests and needs from statewide researchers and users of research, and explore ways that Arizona can support AZ eLearning research and build linkages between universities, corporations, K-12, etc. We want to find out who is doing what and find ways to help others communicate with researchers who have relevant eLearning research.

Bryan WilliamsCEO, Remote-Learner.netRemote-Learner.net (formerly Integrated Training Solutions) has been providing training, consulting and promotional multimedia projects for small and large organizations, advertising firms, governmental entities and school districts since 1982. His company has changed over the years as technology and the way in which training is delivered has changed. Organizational training companies are facing very exciting times, more so now than at any time since the end of the second world war when many people needed to be trained for civilian jobs. There are two major factors driving this incredible change; globalization and the Internet. As borders begin to dissolve and new powerful trading entities come into being (e.g. EU and Asian giants), language, skills and compliance trainings are in great demand. Today's adult learner is expected to reinvent him/herself every 18-24 months during the course of their lifespan, or risk moving downward in their standard of living. There are challanges in training the adult learner that are not faced by our teacher cousins in education. . |

Greater Arizona eLearning Association
In today’s tough business environment innovation and business development is the name of the game. The Greater Arizona eLearning Association (GAZeL) is an alliance between eLearning educators, practitioners and related businesses. GAZeL's purpose is to provide vision, share research, support learning initiatives, and gather resources for the utilization, implementation and expansion of eLearning in business, government, and education.
In 2006, the Arizona legislature created the ten year Arizona eLearning Task Force. The eleven member Task Force is appointed by the Governor, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House, and representatives from the Government Information Technology Agency and the Arizona Department of Education. (Staff support provided by the Arizona Department of Education ). To achieve its ten year mission to guide and support eLearning adoption in Arizona's K-12 education system the enabling legislation instructed the task force to:
Examine eLearning programs in other states
Analyze potential methods to implement eLearning programs in this state
Develop innovative eLearning solutions
Annually report to the legislature regarding eLearning programs and solutions
The Task Force was funded with $3 million to implement, with the Arizona Department of Education, a three-year eLearning middle school math pilot program at up to ten schools. The goal is for participating schools to achieve significant increases in student academic performance and improve motivational levels to pursue mathematics education.
eSATS eLearning System For Arizona Teachers and Students
eSATS is a volunteer non-profit advocacy organization that was formed in 2003 to transform the Arizona K-12 education system from legacy education to eLearning. Their unique contribution is a statewide system design focused on teachers and students, and supported by teacher professional development and digital curriculum. The transformative unit is the eLearning centered school with mastery learning. The state will provide transformation funding, the broadband infrastructure, intellectual infrastructure digital curriculum extension service, professional development and education access system. eSATS' fondest wish is that Arizona will be the breakout state that triggers a national and global transformation to 21st century education implemented by eLearning.
The Arizona Technology Council is the largest technology association in Arizona serving all tech sectors across the state. The Arizona Technology Council is a member-driven association. We represent the interests of technology companies, their support firms, educational institutions and state-wide economic development groups that collectively form Arizona’s technology community.
